Selling in a slow economy can be a real problem for most businesses that don't take the time to really look at their marketing and the story it tells about the business.

When you open this valuable reference guide of marketing techniques you should pay very close attention as this is exactly how not to market your products.
This is an example of copycat platitude and cliché marketing.
Look at the ads carefully they say things like, newer, faster, bigger, better, whiter than white, these are all nebulous terms that mean nothing to most people.
Why are they used? Because most businesses won't spend the time or the money to seek out knowledgeable marketing people who can put together advertisements and marketing materials that will attract and motivate people.
The thinking is "They seem to be doing OK. Let's just copy their stuff and put our name on it!"
How do you know how they are really doing?
When people shop for things they look for specifics and the more specific you are about your products the easier it is for consumers to make a decision about you. As a matter of fact if you are they only one talking in specifics you will more than likely be the only one selling.
Let me give you an example. I am not going to write and ad as most people will just try and copy it and not think about the process and getting it into their situation.
So I am going to tell you a story.
There is a black tire mark in the street in front of my house.
One day a friend asked; "Where did that come from?"
I said; "A guy on a motorcycle."
He just looked at me and said "Oh." But I could see the questions on his face, he wanted to know more.
So I said; "Yeah, this really big dude, he was about 6 foot 4 and about 280 pounds he was all dressed in black with colored patches. He was riding a Big Chopped Harley. The dude was so big he looked like an adult ridding a mini bike. He came screaming around the corner and slammed on the brakes and slid sideways leaving that rubber mark and crack in the pavement."
My friend looked at me with his eyes wide, his questions answered, and just said "WOW!"
When you tell people about your business do you want them to just say "Oh" or would you like them to look at you and say "WOW!"
